I chose this image simply because it shocked me. Ive seen images really similar to this one where the child is extremely malnourished and underdeveloped but this one kind of had a different affect on me. At first glance I couldn't even tell there was a child in the image and I'm not sure if thats due to the color scheme or the fact it is so unbelievably small. Another thing that caught my attention was the expression on the kids face. It looks like they have been through so much trauma at such a young age and they are mad at the world.

The focal point of the image seems to be the child's face. The sunlight really highlights the eyes and the emotion they feel. The image is asymmetrical in that it is divided down the middle by this path that almost acts as a negative space but not quite due to the tree shadows being cast on it. Half of the image is what looks like a woman holding a child and the other half is a large pinwheel. Shadows play a big part in adding depth to the image and highlighting important features such as the child's facial expression and protruding ribs. The background looks like it is slightly more simplified than the image of the woman and child which looks sharper. The mood of the image is sadness and maybe defeat. The picture, to me, conveys poverty through the focus on the malnourished child and the woman's clothing being dirty. I think the image could be a metaphor for how we don't choose what we are born into.

Proposal

Describe- For the first series idea I thought maybe doing different flowers would be cool. I was kind of confused because I thought the series had to tell some kind of story but one of the examples was different kinds of birds.
Shot List...

1) Find different colored flowers and make a rainbow theme

2) Choose a color palette and find flowers that fit into it

3) maybe try to take the same flower and put it it different places

- on a door step
-on someones kitchen table
-handing it to someone
-having it in someones hair
-in a vase

Idea 2

Describe- For my second idea i thought of doing a day in my life (quarantine edition) by only showing my hands or limited. I want to simplify the background on all the pictures and just focus in on what I'm doing. I would start shooting when I woke up and then end later at night.

Shot List...

1) making breakfast

2) washing face

3) making bed

4) pilates

5) walk at the park

6) online school/ homework

7) snack / Netflix

8) dinner

9) check phone

10) go to bed

Test Shots

I don't have any test shots for this proposal
